Surgeon (TS) or Retri Nerf-Rework

Name: Surgeon

Alignment: Town Support

Introduction: You are an outcast that secretly brings back dead bodies to life

Attack: None

Defense: None

Unique Role: Yes

Priority: 2 (Night Ability)

Abilities:

During the Day, you may target up to two players, if they have died the night you have targeted them you will begin to work on their body
During the Night, you will work on their body if you have successfully guessed who died, or you may discard a body

Mechanics pt 1.: (How the Ability Works)

-You will simultaneously work on both their bodies if there are more than 1 bodies you are working on

-You will need two nights to be able to revive the body, if you were visited by a Non-Town Aligned Role while working on a body you will not progress your ability (Astral visits do not count)

-After successfully reviving someone you gain a token, you will be able to now work on a body without the need of guessing who dies and work on discarded bodies however you consume the token

-If the body was killed by an Unstoppable Attack then it cannot be worked on

-After discarding a body you are prevented from working on their body however you may continue it by consuming a Token
(Other)
-If you have worked on a body but have discarded it, you can resume it by consuming a token (Basically let's say you were working on Player X on N2, you discard them on N3, they then have 1 charge of your ability if you get me, you bring them back on N4 to work on their body, D5 they are revived

-There is no limit on how many players you can revive

-You cannot work on a "Lynched" body

-You can have a max of 2 tokens at any time

-You can work on Non-Town aligned bodies

Attributes:

-The dead player will not know if you were working on their body, and you will know if someone evil visits you while working on the body

-You can work on 2 bodies at maximum at any time

-Once a player has been revived, everyone receives a message saying that they were brought back, and the first attack that they will recieve after returning back is converted into Powerful if the attack was Basic, and Unstoppable on the second attack

Mechanics pt 2:

-Investigative Results-

Sheriff: Your target seems Innocent. (Or Suspicious?)

Investigator: Medium/Surgeon/Janitor/Necromancer/Trapper or Medium/Retributionist/Janitor/Necromancer/Trapper/Surgeon

Consigliere/Witch: Your target is an outcast to society with a dark background.They must be the Surgeon!

Goal: Same as Town

Wins With: Same as Town

Must Kill: Same as Town

Messages:

-Player X was brought back to life by a Surgeon!

-You need to work on Player X and/or Player Y (Z amount of times) before bringing back

-You were visited by someone malicious so you had to cease your progress!

-Your body became too weak, you have died! (After bringing back and being attacked)

Other:
Problems with Retri-
-Easily Self Confirmable
-Can be frustrating for evils feeling powerless against it without having a way to prevent the revive unless you have a Witch/CL/Consort/Pirate on your side
-Can't be easily claimed so Janitor and Necromancer has to somehow try and fake a Trapper/Medium claim if investigated by an Investigator
-Etc
What this suggestion solves
-Makes retri have more of an interaction when playing as one
-Reduces the problem of being frustrating for evils
-Due to being not that easily self confirmable it now gives more chances for evils to claim as this role
Why the Token thing?
It's more of a stabilizer, basically if you have failed to guess a correct death for a long time since well you have bad luck or an important town role has already died, you may use it in order to revive them or being able to work on "saved" bodies with the discard mechanic

Mostly it seems overly complicated to me - too many special cases and exceptions to rules.

It also doesn't make the successful revive any weaker - a revive still confirms 2 townies plus any mediums. (With the caveat that an evil could CC the ret, granted.)

It's less likely to get a revive off than the current Ret is, but I think it still has a higher chance of getting a revive in than a Doctor has of getting a heal in.

All of these mechanics seems like little exceptions to me:
  • Roleblocked by non-Town roles
  • Can't revive those killed by an Unstoppable attack
  • Can't revive lynched
  • Can get back a discarded body by using a token
  • Can ignore the whole need to guess who will die by consuming a token
  • Revived player can only be saved by Town Protective once
  • If the attack is Powerful, the revived player can't be saved even once
