Retributionist Replacement: The Oracle

Role: Oracle
Alignment: Town Support

Ability: Revert the time of one player (including dead players). The Oracle is only able to revert time by 1 or 2 days. This can only be used 3 times, and can only be used once on a player.
Explanation: When reverting the time of a player, everything that happened on a night that was 1 or 2 days ago (the oracle chooses how many days to go back) will take place for ONLY the chosen player. If the oracle happens to revive a player, the oracle's life is sacrificed.

Here are some examples:
1. On night 4, the mafioso attacked the doctor, but the doctor healed thmselves. On night 5, the mafioso attacked the executioner, but the oracle intervened. The oracle reverted the time of the mafioso by 1 day, making them attack the doctor instead, because 1 day ago the mafioso attacked the doctor.
2. On night 2, jailor died. On night 3, the oracle intervened and reverted the jailor's time by 2 days, which was night 1. On night 1, jailor was alive, so jailor is revived. But because the oracle revived a player, the oracle dies.
3. On night 5, the doctor healed themselves. On night 6, the oracle intervened and reversed the time of the doctor by 1 day, so that the doctor heals themself again.

So... why?
The Oracle is supposed to be a Retributionist replacement. Retributionist, is deemed as one of the most overpowered town roles in town of salem, and also, one of the most boring. This role is capable of being fully engaged in their abilities for the whole game, unlike the retributionist, who is only able to use one ability for one time.

What is buffed from the Retributionist?
With one ability, the oracle can perform many different tasks, unlike the retributionist who can only perform one task.

What is nerfed from the Retributionist?
The oracle dies when reviving a player.
The oracle can be easily controlled or roleblocked to prevent an important townie from being revived. Let's say, the Jailor dies on night 3. Now it's night 4. Two days must be reversed because jailor was alive on night 2. But if the oracle is roleblocked or controlled, they can no longer revive jailor because the maximum days you can go back is 2 days. And if you revert time 2 days for jailor during the next night, jailor would still be dead. This is a nerf because the retributionist has to be roleblocked or controlled consistently.

Your thoughts? Is it too weak, or too powerful, and why?
Thank you :)

Retri re-work options

Looks like you combined Bodyguard of the Dead with a new "time limit" nerf idea... and added the ability to do other things besides revive.

Yup, the cons of the bodyguard of the dead are all fixed with this role idea

Alright, so this role has:
  • The self-confirmability of an Escort
  • A limited-use version of the Escort's ability to force other players to waste nights (except for those roles that like visiting the same person repeatedly, which are mostly Town roles)
  • The Retributionist's ability to confirm Mediums
Still seems like a bit much.

Since this role can "jam" other players' actions and can also be roleblocked, it creates paradoxes. As an Escort-like, it needs to have roleblock-immunity to avoid problems with roleblocker cycles; but as a Retributionist-like, it needs to not have roleblock-immunity, because that would be overpowered. That's a problem.
