Sociopath (Neutral Killing)

Postby JacksonVirgo » Sun Sep 15, 2019 6:29 pm

Role created to test my formatter.

Role Name: Sociopath (couldn't think of a better name other than Psychopath)

Role Alignment: Neutral Killing

Special Attributes:
  • Roleblock Immunity
  • Detection Immunity
  • Control Immunity
  • Unique
Attack: Powerful
Defense: Basic

Abilities: Kill a player and their target if you guess their visit.

Attributes:
  • If your target visits who you guess they'll visit, they and their target will be dealt a Powerful attack.
  • You have detection immunity until your first kill.
  • You can select a person and themselves to kill them if they stay home or cannot visit.

Goal: Kill everyone who would oppose you.

Notifications:
  • Your visit was guessed by a Sociopath, you have been attacked!
  • Your visitor's visit was guessed by a Sociopath, you have been attacked!

Additional Info:
Jailors visit their jailed targets, yet jailed targets cannot be targeted themselves.
Transporters visit both their targets, guessing either one will count.
This role spans between 0 and 2 KPN, rewarding smart play. Though considering it might take some time to get a kill, detection immunity is given until the very first kill.
E.g. You could check if Player x visits the Jailor and keep going until you find and kill the TP.
E.g. You could stop "Jailor jail them tonight" game-play since this role could pop both of them in one night.
Was considering having either the kill being Astral or both players gain Powerful attack and kill each other but that might be overpowered.

Wondering if nobody gave feedback because it was a really stupid role or if it was suggested before or what.

I have no strong feelings either way. I'm not seeing any problems with it worth mentioning, and it's different enough from the SK that I'm not going to object to it on those grounds, but on the other hand it isn't different enough from the SK for me to get excited about it.

I am sort of wondering what happens if the Sociopath's target is visiting the Sociopath? Is the Sociopath able to kill that person at all?

Woah, I was thinking that the sociopath could select themself and if their target visits them. They die, but that'd pretty much confirm them as being Sociopath since they don't die unless TP gets them.

The name "Sociopath" has been used many, many times (mostly for Neutral Killing), and it was colored in gray to boot (a boring color), so I think that may have prejudiced the role before actually reading how it works.

Anyway, thinking of more problems that may come up with this role:
[list]
[*]If it targets a Town Protective, does it prevent that role from getting its regular effect? If it can't get a doublekill by predicting a Doctor or Bodyguard, then that's crippling.
[*]If it correctly predicts a Transporter... which target dies? (Or both?)
[list]

Overall, I think this role might have problems due to a low average KPN. Predicting someone and killing both them and their target is a great coup, but it's hard to pull off, especially early on.
