M.A.D. VI - Information Blackout [Turn 7]

The International Space Station is a marvel of human engineering. A collaborative effort between Russia and the United States, the station stretches 100 meters from one end to another, and is made of almost 500 thousand kilograms of steel, aluminum, and glass. It orbits the Earth in 90 minutes, and has done so every day since it was built in 1998.

Sound cannot travel in space; the only sign of a rocket an ISS astronaut will see is the sight of the rocket itself. The sound of a missile striking the ISS, however, can be heard by every astronaut on board, for the few moments they have left to live.

500 thousand kilograms of space station turns into 500 thousand kilograms of debris, each piece quickly knocking more and more of its fellow satellites - manned craft, unmanned communications satellites, telescopes and cameras - out of orbit.

During the Cold War the 2 superpowers, U.S.S.R. and U.S.A, agreed not to nuke each other's on the logic that if they do it will evolve into a nuclear war and eventually M.A.D. or Mutually Assured Destruction.

In this game an obscure country decided to drop a nuke on another. After this several other countries with nuke also decided to drop more nukes at each other and M.A.D. ensues.

M.A.D. Hub: http://www.blankmediagames.com/phpbb/vi ... 25&t=76662

-----

Joining

When joining, a player must select 1 country from the country list to control. The host will also control a country themselves.

-----

Mechanic

Each turn each player must send the host a country from the list to nuke. At the end of the turn the country will be eliminated and revealed whether a player is controlling it or not. The host will also nuke a country using their country although they cannot nuke a player.

-----

Win Condition

To win, a player team must eliminate all other players teams and be the last one alive.

-----

Draw

In a case where the last 2 players teams nuke each other, everybody loses. Mutually assured destruction sucks that way.

-----

On PM's and formatting

Start your PM subject with "[M.A.D.]", including brackets and periods. Also, put the current turn somewhere in your PM.

-----
Custom Mechanic

Well, technically there's two.

1) Teams: There will be multiple teams, and the last team standing wins.

2) Information Blackout: All communications are slowed down by two turns. This means:
  • You will only find out about the countries nuked turn 1 on turn 3.
  • Any PM to your teammates must be sent to me, and I will send them to the target player.
There is one exception to this blackout: Hotlines. These hotlines connect two countries, and allow them to send PMs directly to each other.

Depending on the number of players who join, the teams will be as follows:
  • 6 players: 2 teams of 3.
  • 8 players: 2 teams of 4.
  • 9 players: 3 teams of 3.
In each team, two players will be connected by hotline.

Phone0Ix, Multi, please send countries :P

Also, wow, I thought it would take longer to find people. I’m actually sort of busy these two weeks. I guess we’ll take it up to 12 players and just start though :/

Meanwhile, I’m throwing a poll up

Alright, twelve people have joined. I'll leave signups open for a while for backups; if we get to 15, I'll make it 5 teams of 3, but I doubt we'll get that many.

Game starts in three days.

Alright, now that everything's settled:

Here are the teams, brought to you by the power of Google Sheets Randomizer (tm):

Teams:
  • Team 1: Chemist1422, Jalandh, AaronC
  • Team 2: Bluedetroyer, BRVR, Phone0Ix
  • Team 3: Zucker, deathofrats0808, GrumpyGoomba
  • Team 4: timurtheking, WindBlqde, Multiuniverse

PMs will be going out shortly to each team regarding countries and hotlines.

Information Blackout starts now. All PMs, except those between a hotline, must be sent to me and me only. I will forward the PM to the recipient two turns later.
Hotline PMs should be sent to me and the recipient.
You can discuss in this thread, but do not bring up any strategy-related conversation.

Turn 1 begins!

EDIT: All PMs have been sent out. If you didn't get one, let me know.
