Right, sorry for not posting. I've been uncomfortably busy, and unexpectedly.

Yes, you're voting for the military funding bill.

As for the issue, it seems I've not been clear. You guys are supposed to make up a plan, heck make several, and then vote to do whatever it is you think is best. So a /vote would be nice please.

For the purposes of the game Multi, you have that money. Actions do not necessarily deplete that pool forever. For instance, a quarantine would draw money until it ended, at which point it would stop, and your money would go back up.

To summarise the other issue

- Quarantine will be immediately imposed on infected planets
- Patrol ships will be sent to prevent any smugglers entering or leaving
- Doctors and Scientists will be sent immediately to the infected planets. Scientists are to take the strain and analyze it, working with the doctors to try and make a vaccine and a cure for the disease. Doctors are to inspect the citizens to make sure the disease is legit, and to treat them however they can.
- Doctors and Scientists are to wear protective gears and take precautions to make sure they do not contract the disease
- Once they return they and the ships will undergo sanitising process to ensure no virus return with them. The doctors and scientists will then undergo tests and 30 days quarantine/isolation and observed to make sure none of them contracted strains.

- Once cure and vaccine are made the matter will be rediscussed to negotiate the price of the cure and medicine

Additional thoughts, what do we do if we face resistance from those who inhabit our planets. While they are our citizens, it's possible that they may not react well to government intervention, even if it is for the greater good. There may be some outliers, whether those who are well and ignorant to the plight of others or those who simply have strong antigovernment sentiments. Should we have military accompanying our scientists and doctors?

Yes, that is a wise idea. They should also bring supplies, that should quell down the civilians.

Yes, relief supplies would probably help calm some. Is there any other problems we might need to think about? Should we be looking into any interplanetary travels taken up by those from the quarantined planets prior to the quarantine, or should we leave that entirely for later in case it isn't a problem?

So it's this:

The military funding bill is passed, 5-0 with two abstentions.

Teams will be dispatched to fulfill the council's will in regards to the Pox.

Round 2

The current law up for approval is a ban on criticizing the Emperor.

The current issue is a spate of pirate attacks in the outer reaches of the Empire.

The Pox has been mostly contained, and scientists and doctors are working on a vaccine.

First off, is banning free speech really a good idea? Second, do you think we can make peace with the pirates?

If we pass that law, people who would want to complain would probably continue to complain about the Emperor anyway, and also complain about us for not letting them.

As for the issue, where do these pirates tend to focus their attacks? Are they hitting near planets as potential targets are departing or approaching their destinations, are there certain points or routes that ships must go through that are being targeted, or is it something else being done? Or some combination of those?

1. No. The last thing we want are people accusing us of censorship. Worse, it might cause tensions with our allies.

2. I propose that we have intelligence try to figure out if these pirate attacks are related, and have military form a plan of attack if they are. If not, then just have tighter security in the outer reaches.

3. Wait, MOSTLY contained?

I mean, the pox is an infectious disease, and presumably not everyone on a given infected planet has it. I'd expect that intra-planetary infections would not be stopped completely, and the prevention of inter-planetary travel by those infected may not be perfect. But "mostly contained" is okay at least, I think, especially if a treatment can be created.

If it's an organized thing, that probably means a leader we can either negotiate with or threaten. If it's not, then independent pirates are presumably mostly after loot, and if we make it unprofitable or too dangerous...

The pirates are attacking merchant ships, both as they arrive and leave planets, and as they stop to refuel at several space stations. Furthermore, they are attacking some of the more rural areas of various planets, and disappearing small settlements.

Yup, mostly contained. There have been small flareups on other planets, but only minor ones. Most of the quarantined people got the idea after a few vessels were disintegrated trying to escape.
