How do you expect to host one if you're unfamiliar with it?

Try asking someone from the D&D thread, i.e. Jammy.

You dont always have to have experience to host a game. Everyone's got their first time.

Step 1: Ooh, a room full of treasure!
Step 2: Treasure and explosives, kaboom!

(Actually happened in a campaign I was in. Except the treasure room was a wine cellar.)

D&D is better with physical dice because then it's always your fault if you roll badly

Then you'll be the one who rigged them. Hopefully to roll higher, not lower.

Tip: ALWAYS before clicking out of your game's thread update the OP and the database(if needed)

Tip for getting players: Add some mystery to the game, like and unexplained role or mechanic, or if the game is story based try to put some mysterious person/object.

Btw see what I found, sick amounts of work were put into this

There's a DnD thread?

If you don't know, it's in the Off-Topic Discussions sub-forum.

I'll add the tips. Also that is pretty much an entire Forum Game. If you don't want to host it, I'll make a forum game idea section and will put it there.

I actually have an idea for a game that would probably help out game creators a lot, while at the same time being a game.

Would you join?

Rules:
- Game creators submit game ideas to the host, once there are enough players the game begins.
- A random player is chosen as the judge and the host puts a random submitted game concept into the thread.
- Everyone who isn't the judge PMs the host with whether or not they would join this game, and why.
- Once all PMs have been submitted, the host puts the players' choices and reasoning into the thread, keeping the author of each anonymous.
- The judge then selects the reasoning which they think is the best and the player that created that reasoning gets a point.
- The next player on the list then becomes the judge and a new round begins.
- Play continues until a player reaches x number of points.

My only issue is with the amount of homework that I have and the fact that I'm already hosting 2 games, I would much rather someone else host it.

No I just wanted to put this in a place where people who browse this forum regulary will see it. There is no such thing as a game ideas thread or a megahub anymore and I did not post it there while this things still existed. Btw here is an interesting fact about this game: the original reward for the winners was 5€.

As of today, we, Ibney000, InsaneSmile, and JammySplodge, have formed the Council of Consultancy. A group of members who will help to review your games and will manage the Guide to Hosting thread.

As of now, we are a small group, however, in the future, we plan to accept new members into the group based on their past experience in game hosting. All you have to do is apply to our head consultant, InsaneSmiles, and supply a list of your past game hosting experience, and we will review your application. To be accepted, 2/3rds of the consultants have to accept your application. If accepted, you will be invited to a discord chat where we will hold our meetings.

There are Guidelines for joining, however only the first is set in stone:
  1. Must be a trusted user
  2. Should have 4 games under their belt
  3. Should have good standing on the forums

You will be expected to follow guidelines set out below. If you do not follow these guidelines, the rest of the council will have a majority vote (1/2 of the council must agree to one side) on whether you will be kicked or not.

  1. No fights. Discussion is welcome, but arguments and fights should be avoided
  2. Do not harass anyone
More will be added as needed.

If you have any questions we will do our best to respond.

And just so the purpose of this group is clear, its job is to assist forumers in their game. This does not mean the consultant are necessarily willing to co-host, be sure to check the Finding a Co-Host section instead. It also doesn't make these people "mods" of this thread either.
