I should probably fix the hosts section considering several people on that list (at least Ibney and Resi that I know of) have left the forums and birdy is no longer with us

Spoiler: Prologue:
The host yawns and gets out of bed before knocking on the door of all his friends. Last night there was a great party that she had hosted and everybody seemed to have a fantastic time! Everything was perfect. She rinsed some dishes and set up the table before looking at the storage for an idea of all the ingredients she might need. She was just waiting for her cook to get up. They’re an excellent chef and agreed to stay with her and her friends for a few days for this little vacation that they all had planned. The host had always had a large amount of money and was always looking for ways to spend it on her friends. The sound of somebody digging in the draws behind her interrupted her train of thought. “Ah. You’re up already. Just go ahead and tell me the ingredients are and I’ll get them all set up for you. Today’s gonna be a big day you know? I feel like something special is gonna happen. It’s just… A strong feeling. I know after yesterday it just seems that nothing could beat that. Everybody had fun! Even Mr Shy guy had fun! I mean come on he usually hates these gatherings!” The rummaging stopped and footsteps began to rush towards her. Before she could even turn around there was a body on the floor.

Basics:
-Each player will PM the Team they wish to be on. One player is going to be the Investigator while the other player is going to be The Mastermind.
-The Investigator will mainly play in the Thread working on finding out the identities.
-The Mastermind will mainly play through PMs attempting to hide their identities.
-The Mastermind’s goal is to ensure that everybody against the Mastermind is killed by the end of the day. Their team members are called The Thieves
-The Investigator’s goal is to ensure that everybody on the side of the Mastermind is apprehended or legally disposed of by the end of the game. Their team members are called The Innocent
-There are three phases: Exploration Phase, Investigation Phase, and Blackout Phase.
-The game will end when one of the two conditions below are met
-The Investigator has no more team members.
-The Mastermind has no more team members.
-The Mastermind and Investigator themselves will not exclusively do actions, but will send out their team members to do the actions for them. They can then do their own actions excluding murder unless in self defense.
-There are a total of 14 characters in the house. 15 if you count the dead Host. There are 2 Protagonists, 5 Innocents, 5 Traitors, and two Wild Cards
-Wild Cards are on their own team.

Stats: Each Character will have their own Strength, Speed, and Stealth. This will be used to determine the outcome of their actions.

Strength:

Speed:

Stealth:

Exploration Phase:
-The game starts in this phase.
-Both players will be able to send out their known team members to help satisfy their win condition.
-This phase will last 48 hours, but will be extended if necessary.
-There is no limit as to what players can do as long as it is physically possible.
-Murder can happen in this phase by any means.

Investigation Phase:
-This will be after the Exploration phase.
-Everybody who is able to will appear at the crime scene for this discussion.
-They will have the chance to interrogate one character before their choice to get a PM about their Alibi for the previous Exploration phase.
-During this phase the Investigator will have the chance to ‘apprehend’ a character. This will remove them from the game, but their role will not be revealed only their alignment.
-If they apprehend an innocent twice they will no longer be able to apprehend for the rest of the game.
-This phase will last 48 hours, or until the Investigator sends in their choice.
-The Investigator may choose to not apprehend anybody.
-Murder cannot happen in this phase by simple combat.

Blackout Phase:
-This will be after the Investigation Phase
-The entire house will be put into a blackout allowing the Mastermind’s known team members to do any actions in secret.
-The Investigator will only receive vague hints in the thread.
-This phase will last 48 hours or before if the Mastermind wants to end the phase early.

Character Roles:

I made this game about four days ago and was planning on hosting it after this game. It would be two to four players. One Mastermind, One Investigator, and Two Wildcards. I have the Wild Cards already made, but have no idea if I should make roles yet. This is to see if there is any interest in the game. If there's enough interest I will finish it, but if not I'll probably host a danganronpa game instead.

Is there anyone still interested in playing Forum Games here(and there is just lack in of hosts)?
Or people should not bother hosting anything?

this probably isn't the right thread to ask that in, i can't imagine many prospective players are actively keeping up with the Guide to Hosting

both i think. Most forum gamers have also changed forum/use discord for their games now
Check out my ideas:

Witch Change/buff

Thinking of running a time travel-centered roleplay on here in a few days/weeks as soon as I can get the document finished.

It'll be styled like a ttrpg with dice rolls for conflict resolution and stuff. Also whoever joins will work together to build the world and timeline before the campaign starts proper.

I'm willing to run it with a minimum of 2 players, so even though this place is pretty dead, I might still get enough people together to get something going.

For anyone into the ttrpg space or wants more of an idea of what they're getting into, I'll be using a modified version of the Echo variant of Microscope when building the world and timeline, followed by a Forged in the Dark hack for the actual campaign.

Dunno if anyone will read this but reply if you're interested, ig

EDIT: This has nothing to do with my sig, which needs to be updated anyway

EDIT 2: sig has been updated

I am interested
But
1. Just for confirmation: this will be a play by post ttrpg correct?
2. Would it be possible to host it over discord because I rarely visit the forum nowadays and discord would be more convenient
3. I will probably need more information including goals for the party, themes, and how much activity is expected.

Note: If you reply to this and I don't reply for like a few days I might've forgot - in which case feel free to poke me on discord. I believe I have you added there?

Thanks parker for the gif and SuperDuper for suggesting rotational sig

1. Yes

2. I've been considering it, but it can be hard to find older posts in Discord because neither searching nor scrolling up is as convenient as pages on a forum thread. Also the character limit is kind of a bother.

I'm not sure where I want to host it yet, but Guilded seems like a decent option since it has similar features to Discord with a forum channel option.

3. Themes and party goals will depend on the position the party fills within the world. Since part of the process is creating the world with the players, I have no idea what the themes and party goals will turn put to be. That's part of what will make this fun and exciting!

As for activity, I'd like an average of 2+ posts per week, but if you can only manage 1, that's fine. If you can't commit to one post per week though, the story might drag which is something I'd like to avoid.
