Mutiny 9: The Storm

The Mercenary™ patrols the deck a bit. His left hand rested on the handle of his gun, as he tried to avoid looking at the water. It was then that he realized that walking around on deck, prepared to draw a gun, probably looked suspicious. He lowered his hand, and approaches the woman at the easel, standing at an angle where he can still see the angry man. "Hello, ma'am, lovely weather we're having. May I ask what you're painting?" (Oh, god he's almost as old as you Death.)

His eyes lingered on the rapier for a bit. He’d have to ask about it later. “Ah, right. Have a good day, sirs. Thank you.” And he ducked out of the room. With that matter taken care of, he felt free to do a bit of snooping. He looked around for the angry looking man.

He's not that old. Think like, late forties. He's standing on the aftcastle, talking to the man on the wheel.

Main deck

You arrive on the main deck. A strong wind blows from behind the mast towards the bow, and the previously lovely day has been marred by the appearance of dark clouds on the horizon. The mercenary is on the forecastle, speaking to a woman, who sits by an easel, painting.

"It has been a rather lovely day." The lady says. "I'm painting the sea. Just keep my hand in, you understand. Besides it gives me something to do."

"'Ey there mate, what cha' lookin' fer?"

"Hmm? Oh. My copy of Everburning Lights of Trithemius is around here somewhere. Blast if I can find the thing though."

The wolf dancer stops in his tracks, mid spin. He stands still. With an upturned smile hid behind his white wolf head mask, he leaves to the main deck.

The dark clouds have drawn closer, catching up with the Covenant. The older man is still speaking with the man on the wheel. The mercenary is speaking with the lady satat the easel and a young child is standing nearby. A sailor scrubs the galley counter, and two are within the rigging.

/stand next to the mercenary and woman and wave at them

They appear to be making small talk. The lady doesn't notice you.

The choice to not state NPC professions was a deliberate one. So you don't know.

“Are you a painter by trade? Or do you do more general- Ah. Now who do we have here?”

The mercenary shot an almost apologetic smile to the woman he was chatting with and turned towards the child, bending forward to about eye-level, hands on his knees. “Hello, little one. Are you lost? It could be dangerous to wander around a ship alone.”

The child shakes their head and points at the painting while smiling.

/move out some chests to make enough space so i can go in and help search

The painting has been sketched, showing a calm beautiful sea, off the port bow of a ship. Only the deck of the ship itself has been painted though.

/go to the npc crew quarters

The door to the crew quarters is shut, but opens easily. A pair of beds take up much of the space. Four hammocks are slung from the ceiling, two of which are occupied by sleeping men.

/move out some chests to make enough space so i can go in and help search

The man is basically kneeling in the doorway, looking through this chest. You cannot enter the stores until he moves.

“Yes, it’s a very pretty picture. But, what are you doing? It’s a bit rude to go about poking people. What’s your name, kiddo?”
