New game queue for less serious games?

Postby xUltiix » Wed May 29, 2019 5:00 pm

Lots of the ideas for games these days are either unbalanced (bad roles/concepts, bad numbers, etc) or silly (allany, rolecards arent given out, etc). If we had a queue for less serious games where games that are unbalanced but don't have their spirit when properly balanced or concepts that aren't meant to be fully balanced can go, it could help with 3 things:

1) Standards, SFMs, etc could tighten up their standards and instead of reluctantly running bad games in those queues relegate them here
2) Games on the edge of balanced/unbalanced that wouldn't normally be able to be run could run
3) Unbalanced but fun concepts could be run

It wouldnt be good to just let anyone put any game on it,, but the point would be letting slightly unbalanced or not designed to be well balanced games run. Still have review required but not required to be as balanced.
Examples of somewhat balanced games that could be run: CL-styles with TPow, exceptionally high numbers of one faction, experimentals, etc
Examples of not designed to be balanced games that could be run: Allany, not sending out rolecards at the start of the game, very bastard games, etc
Because it's not as serious of a queue, activity requirements could be relaxed for these games (depending on the game).

Thoughts/suggestions?

Disagree on reducing activity requirements Becuase I feel activity requirements are already pretty lax
If you can’t meet 5-10 posts every gameday then you shouldn’t really be playing
I think prodding definitely should be a thing
I do see that it could be more lax, such as an extra prod required to force replace, giving people even more time
Getting rid of the “post or be replaced” time and just making it more prods
And other stuff
But activity is still what makes games fun
Lack of activity is boring
So I don’t think less activity is a good thing for making fun games better

I like the idea though and it would be a good addition/throwback to meme in

Lax activity requirements in my eyes is probably only +12-24 hours to whatever the prod time would normally be and 3 prods equaling replacement instead of two. Less activity isnt good but in a more laid back game room for not getting accidentally prodded or replaced is. Generally, 36hr prod timers and 3 prods for replacement usually isn't enough of a relaxation to actually bring down activity - just make it more relaxed for people.

If you want more lax activity requirements, you just need longer phases

Good idea but then we would have 5 queues and playerbase probs is too small for that
