Dos and Don'ts of hosting

Hello everyone, Chemist here (why the heck do I sound like a youtuber), and I'm going to tell you about what to do and what not to do when you're hosting an FM game.

Do:

  1. Make sure that you can host

If you're going to be busy and you know this, don't host. Your players deserve a host that cares as much as they do.

  2. Talk with your overseeing mod

A lot of hosts don't know every role interaction, so make sure you don't mess up and check with the mod overseeing your game. They know a lot more about these roles than you.

  3. Prepare pregame

Before your game starts, make sure you're ready. Write flavor, put RCs in PM drafts, whatever you need to do to get the game going.

Don't:

  1. Mess with mod logs

That is how to get a GMod angry at you.

  2. Lock other people's threads

That is how to get an FM Mod angry at you.

  3. Leave stuff for last-minute

This is the hosting equivalent of circlejerking until EoD. Once you realize you have stuff to do you'll have barely any time to do it, which results in a poor result.

Most of it is stuff I learned from first-hand experience, some of it is stuff I've seen from other games (not naming names, but hopefully they know which ones)
