please stop putting the same numbers from the overall player list in dead list and alive list. it's needlessly complicated and stupid.

please make sure to update a games beginning post when a game ends because it's hard to look back on it. this one is simple and easy to follow.

PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE ORIGINAL USER IN THE CASE OF A REPLACEMENT. this one is just stupid.

Okay, everyone. I don't know why this pernicious practice keeps coming up, but let's go over this. When I did the census today it seemed like something like a third of games used this weird numbering system.

Necessary
An Alive/Dead section in the first post (second post works okay too I guess, but I find it kind of annoying). You can spoiler it, call it something clever, whatever. Just have it! There were two games that for some reason didn't have this section included anywhere and I had to go to the most recent vote count to get the information which is... unacceptable.

Good
Numbering your Alive players to see at a glance how many are alive on the OP. You can also do this if you title the alive section with the number alive, but you risk forgetting to change it.

HORRIBLE

Inexplicably numbering your players but not keeping the numbers up to date, creating non-consecutive numbers. For example:

Alive
1. Zoraster
2. Untrod Tripod
3. Equinox
6. Llamafluff
7. Kison
9. Marquis

WHAT IS THIS? No. This is WORSE than nothing. Someone actually did this only decided (for some reason) to use Roman numerals. Non-consecutive Roman numerals. In case it wasn't already confusing enough to skip numbers.

Let me let you in on a secret. It's called the list function. Specifically

. It makes altering lists with numbers SUPER easy and you don't have to do the annoying work of redoing your list.

Here's what you do. You take your players at the start of the game and you put them in like this:

agree 100% on the second point, would be nice if mods added 'x survived' at the end as well. even if a game says 'town win' at the top you still have to go back through the mod iso to find what happened

i haven't seen the third one done since a really long time ago

oh and another thing is either having a list of links at the bottom with each lynch or putting a link to the post where they died in the graveyard. hugely helpful

Just like all of the things that k1ll stated. Just because it is whatever the host chooses doesn't mean the practices shouldn't be avoided

We are a lot less strict that some people assume, but are actually dictators on important shit that no one listens to. So... Trying to instruct people on how to format their graveyard is small cookies compared.
