Sorry for not being on to lock the thread when hammer happened, university stuffs been bogging me down for hours.

Apologies for the delay in the votecount, was busy travelling. Also in the future refrain from twilight posting, I'll be giving out warnings to people who do it in the future.

Okay I know I said I'd give out warnings but due to me being late to lock the thread I'll just quietly forget that I said that.

Spoiler: "Lads, we might be heavily outnumbered but we're the only people here who are willing to fight on the side of justice! Are we going to sit back and let these scumbags hide the truth from us? Are we going to just forget what our government did to cause this situation? Are we going to give up on the missing people?"

"The answer to all of those questions is a resounding 'no'. We aren't here just for our sake. We're here for our people's sake. If that squad of men stop us from retrieving that information from the laboratory, then we're a disgrace to our city. Got that? Good. Here's the rundown on the plan before we set out to get whatever we need from the lab.

"That hostile squad will also be racing to get to the laboratory to stop us from getting the data. We want to avoid conflict as much as possible to not lose any men, but don't be afraid to blow their brains out if you can. Be wary though, some might have enhanced abilities. That's all you need to know. Follow me and let's go!"

"I certainly can't say I expected to face an actual threat tonight. I thought all of those vigilantes were cheap as fuck, but it looks like we may have to put some effort into our mission boys."

"Once we get there, trash the place as much as you can. That's your priority. We can't let anyone know the truth behind all of this as well as where our own boss went off to. If you see any of those ragtag bastards, wipe them from the face of the earth. I don't care if you die, you know damn well that our only job is to protect those secrets."

"Now then. This charades gone on long enough. We're taking out that laboratory, then we're taking over this city. It'll be the perfect place for our new haven of rogues, wouldn't you lot agree? But that can come later. Move out. Time is of the essence."

The showdown grew near. As the night sky enveloped the world once again the vigilantes and the armed squad rushed to the laboratory as fast as they could. This would be a quick affair, there wouldn't be time for monologues or standoffs. The vigilantes reached the building first, and they wasted no time in scouring it, making copies of the information and taking important machinery, spreading it out amongst themselves in case they met a terrible fate. The laboratory was of a decent size, but not too big even with multiple rooms. But this information gathering was short lived as the armed squad came in guns blazing and the battle begun.

It was immediately obvious that the vigilantes were sorely outmatched by the armed squad, their leader imposing a menacing presence on the area. His men quickly stormed through the laboratory's few rooms. Vigilantes that were found wasted no time in firing at the enemy, however a few seemed to be extremely resistant to injury, and the vigilantes who encountered these men were stunned at this revelation, however they persevered and kept firing. Even though the vigilantes brought a few men down, the enemy forces were simply too strong with their abilities and firepower and the few vigilantes who were in the building quickly fell.

The boss of the men produced a sly grin as he ordered his men to stop firing, assuming all of the vigilantes had been wiped out at this point. Once he determined that the area was definitely clear, he sent his men to retrieve any dropped machinery or information that could expose them or their true boss. With an exasperated but delighted sigh, he ventured into the basement of the laboratory, noting down what was to be destroyed. On the table, he spotted a notebook with frantic yet legible scribbles. After squinting to look, he read the note and got an idea of what their boss had been up to as well as his partial identity.

"Dr. Z... that madman got his moles in to save the first of us rogue agents from that building, and now we're repaying the favor by taking over this world, bit by bit until its in his image. Thank god for men like him."

Suddenly, 2 of his men entered the basement, looking worried. They explained that they had been unable to locate some of the machinery and information that had been assumed to be present in the laboratory. The boss's face went red with anger, but he didn't take it out on his men. He remembered that he'd left a jeep that he used to get here nearby, and rushed out to check if it was still there. Unsurprisingly, it wasn't. With a voice filled with ferocity, he ordered most of his men to get back to the city and begin the extermination of anyone who dared to defy their will in order to create their new haven. Afterwards he got the remaining men and set off to locate the vigilante who got away with the info. If that info got out, this world would go from shit to absolutely fucked in no time.

3 days later

Spoiler: "So the reason behind these deletions is because they wanted to purge those who didn't benefit them enough? That's fucked. The worst part about this is that they just disappeared. All of their possessions vaporized too."

"Who knew that getting my hands on that information would just ruin my faith in people even more than it already had. Ruining the world is one thing, but continuing to eliminate people who've done nothing wrong for the sake of efficiency despite that? What's even the point of all this? Why is this Dr. Z guy so hellbent on messing up this world? Did the government work with him? God damn it, I just want to escape this shitty reality."

"And now I've been waiting here for my friend and he's not shown up. I can't accept that he might have died. He's too smart for that. Even though I had my gang to worry about, they were the one thing keeping me from just saying goodbye to this cursed place. Maybe I'll just sit here forever. I don't really know what to do at this point. Nothing is safe. Nothing. Nothing at all. I'm screwed, aren't I?"

BasicFourLife had made it to the laboratory much earlier than the 2 other factions, gathering as much information as he could on the deletions, Dr. Z himself, the governments misdeeds and other important things. He made a long trek back to the pier over 3 days to share his findings with hereisme, but they never showed up. Devastated at this fact as well as the information he got, he sat down on a nearby wall next to the sea. With the sun rising to try and bring more false hope into the land, BasicFourLife watched it come up as the waves on the sea calmly swished around, creating an unsettling tranquility that felt like a death sentence to him as he continued to mull over the events of the past week, not knowing what to do anymore.

With innocent people being disposed off for terrible reasons, the government covering their own tracks by messing up their city and by proxy the world, the rogue agents continuing to pose a threat to good and bad people alike, there is no hope for this ruined world. Or is there?

Mod Rant that people probably don't care about

Spoiler: So overall, I was satisfied with this game. At the very least, it was much less of a trainwreck than VFM36, ironic given the apocalyptic theme of this game. In general, town played ok with some really good play and some trash fire level play and mafia had their moments but weren't that great over the course of the game. I'll go into more specific detail about setup, town and mafia below:

Setup:
The lesson I learned today? Try and make my own VFM setups more often. I did this setup because as far as I'm aware it was the only one in Schultz's VFM topic a while back that hadn't been run and I liked the look of it. As for the setup itself I'll admit it was more townsided than I would've liked as was pointed out in the dead/spec chat. However ngl I wasn't aware of balance issues regarding the setup so that's on me I guess. For my next VFM if the forums are somehow still around and FM miraculously survives I'll probably just make my own setup, probably smaller than this one because every game these days seems to be B I G - it'd be nice to have more small games in the queues (hint hint).

I also put a lot of effort into the flavor this time, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Of course it's not perfect, but its definitely better than SFM29's flavour. You can only have "town tries to kill scum" so much before it gets boring, so I tried to spice it up a bit. There are parts that could be improved, but I'm satisfied with it and the setup overall.

Town:
As mentioned above, Town weren't too bad... when they were playing decently. Some parts were just like "NO STOP WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS" like Scorpios WIFOM-hell in the first 2 days, almost half the game claiming doctor and not taking out UzayAltay more quickly for example. But at least they got their shit together and didn't have too much trouble pinning down mafia in the grand scheme of things. I think. Anyway, gj for winning.

Mafia:
I have to say, it could have been better on the Mafia side of things. Whilst there were good plays/reads like Uzay managing to find the Cop and real Doctors, the mafia as a whole tended to slip up a bit too much and expose themselves to the Town. The game could definitely have gone differently or at least lasted longer had the Mafia been more careful in what they said in my opinion. Regardless of that, it's not the worst mafia team I've seen but there's definitely some large room for improvement here.

Thanks for playing/watching the game, hopefully I'll see you in my next game. Or even just VFM in general.
