As gabby has already told you, this is “meme phase”. As you know from the regular game, D1 is fifteen seconds long, doesn’t have a D1 lynch, and is often where “Vet baits” and other possible random claims. In this, it’s the same thing. No D1 lynch, and people often joke around and be active before the game “actually starts”, meaning when players get serious, some deaths have occurred, etc. If you have any other questions about terminology or etc, do not hesitate to ask.

An important note is that scumreading is rather important here. What that is, if you don’t know, is seeing how a player acts and talks, and get a possible “read” on what faction they might be if they’re acting suspicious or not.

I’ll kind of be in the same boat as you, because I want to change my FM viewpoint and just try new things. So hopefully it’ll look different

From NFM52 i got the impression that D1 lynch is a bit of a controversial strategy but is mostly accepted. Seeing how town lost that game because they didn't lynch D1, i don't think it's that bad of an idea.

In the second question you're just asking for reads basically, i can see it coming from town so i won't say anything about it. The third one is oddly specific tho so you probably formulated it to know something specific about whoever answered it. To me it seems like it can be used to determine how much a player trust themselves and who is more willing to follow the crowd and easier to manipulate. Maybe i'm reading too much into it but that's how it seems to me.

Hypoclaiming works best when the information role is known, receives binary results, is used to close PoE, and the Mafia know how to seer hunt.

We don’t know what the TI is, so hypoclaiming one role only to get it wrong doesn’t help anyone but scum because they know precisely which information is fake. Not to mention only the sheriff receives binary results.

Also the biggest reason to hypoclaim is to Seer Hunt Clear. Meaning any green check of the mafia factional kill target is likely correct. It’s A LOT less useful with a confirmed Godfather and the possibility of a Framer, because a NS result doesn’t conclusively clear people.

It becomes even less useful when the possibility of a Scum Role Cop (Consigliere) or Roleblocker (Consort) or both exists, as it cuts hunting time down quite a bit.

Furthermore, practically speaking, it requires 100% commitment from everyone. Everyone has to take care to maintain their cover and never scumread their green checks. Just one person screwing it up makes Mafias job a lot easier.

The strategy also increases in effectiveness when all the players are skilled enough scumhunters to have a low enough misfire rate to make hypoclaiming worth it. This is a newbie game and this is their first game for many players. If done improperly, it just makes life harder for us.

If we are going to hypoclaim we have to agree for a 100% commitment. Everyone does it or nobody does it. And it’s not the silver bullet you think it is.

I agree that Desert's post did seem slightly scum motivated, and a lot of what Exacerbated is saying is correct, but at the same time I can't see a reason scum would ever make such a bold play, especially in the early game where they will be heavily suspected in later parts of the game as a result. I'm personally neutral for the reasons stated. I'm unsure as to whether a D1 lynch is optimal for Town or not given I have little knowledge of prior games, so can someone explain this to me please? Thanks.

D1 lynches are optional, only really suspicious people gets lynched D1 but it honestly depends on who is on the rolelist.
we can currently afford to lynch someone but i advice against it until we get enough info or someone does a slip. just keep an eye on people for now and see if you can spot anything out of the ordinary, like me telling you all this lol even though it is normal it is also not.. dont ask the answer will confuse you more

Actually, D1 lynches are necesary. It gives us information NoLynching would not (e.g. who led the lynch). If we keep nolynching because there are "no leads," mafia easily win.
There are only 2 RTs, there is easily only 1 TI. Statistically, they will die before they find any useful results.
