Why not? Day 1 is one of the most important days IMO. We can formulate reads and gather information about people's attitudes. Day 1 sets the tone for the rest of the game.

And Oliy, to answer your question, I agree that we should massclaim around Day 3, as it is not super early, but also not MyLo. I think that winning as Town is all about teamwork, and we need leaders. If you are a confirmable Townie, you should confirm yourself Day 2.

No pls that's earlier massclaims without protectives being outed. I stay say hidden so Citizens are more likely to die.
Even if we want a town leader, it isn't worth it. We get associations from mislynches and who pushed the mislynch, while a confirmed townie can just mess up with their reads and we get fewer associations.
Only experienced players should reveal if they think it's the right thing, but I suggest no revealing.

Look, if someone's a strong scumread we're lynching them, but if there's a tie and they're giving you vibes of being a loner then go for them due to eliminating the KPN. I would rather gamble on being Mafia than Town.

If there is a Transporter, though, they should reveal early then transport themselves with someone else. This way, there is a much lower chance of killers targeting them.

Transporter's tricky. It has self-protection though and I would recommend keeping it hidden.

Yes. Maybe if we accuse him he will pay more attention. Also, in NFM20, he did not pay attention Day 1, and he was Town. He did not actually say that he was going to ignore everyone, though. He is probably either lurking or does not want to talk because he is scum and does not want to scumslip.

This is a possibility, however, unorthodox might just be scared about being seen as scum on day 1 and thus, he will not talk during d1. However, the fact that he announced it, makes it seem much more scummy then it should have been.

If I had to pick someone I see as scum right at this very moment, it would be him. But for now, I would just keep his comment in mind for later and keep an eye on him.

Hi, sorry I'm a little late to joining- I had a 7-hour drive home today. Anyways, I have a little bit of experience (2 crappy NFMs, and currently in 1 CFM).

I think Day 1 can definitely be used productively, it does not all need to be memes. I think it is hard to really make reads on people on Day 1, but I do believe that later in the game you can look back on Day 1 to see if anyone has had a real change in behavior/attitude or something like that.

Imo, posting a lot is not necessarily scummy, but posting off-topic is. Posting a lot can be scummy if it's just a bunch of shitposting, but if you're posting a lot of genuine and thoughtful posts, that's not really scummy.

And some thoughts after reading through:

I don't think anyone should assume that scum are usually quiet and off-topic. Scum may very well be posting often, and even posting well thought-out reads and ideas. I have also seen VERY quiet and inactive Townies (although I will stick by saying that lurking is NOT a good way to play Town, and I WILL read it as scummy). Remember that every player has a different playstyle, and just try not to make too many assumptions up front.

I also do not think we should claim too early. Idk, everyone has always told me in NFM that you should avoid hardclaiming and sometimes even softclaiming for as long as you can- FM is different than ToS. If we have strong roles claiming on D2 just to be leaders, they're going to get controlled and maybe even roleblocked/killed. Then those roles are useless. If you guys haven't read the FM guide on how to play Citizen, you should go ahead and look at it. I'm also not really interested in picking a specific day to massclaim. I think that we should massclaim when the situation calls for it, whether that be D2 (hopefully not), or D5, or anywhere inbetween.

Oh, also, I have a few tips and suggestions.

For Newbies: definitely try to make sure you're checking in, catching up, and posting atleast once every 24 hours. It makes the game a lot better for everyone if we're all active. Being active helps give everyone clues- both about you and other people, plus you can share your thoughts and ideas, and we can all work together. Inactive players can really ruin a game, either just by making it not fun, or by actually affecting the outcome (like if we really need your night results, or your vote, and you're not here to help).

Especially try to make sure you're active in the last 24 hours of the day. In my NFM experiences, this is when the pace usually picks up, and when voting happens. This is a very important part of the game, and when we really need people to be around.

People have different time zones. If you know that the day is going to end at 3 am for you, so you can't be on for voting, then PLEASE post before you go to bed and tell us "hey guys it's X time here, I am going to bed and will not be around for the rest of the day". That way we atleast know that your vote cannot be changed, and we aren't waiting around for you to come in and vote or anything. My first NFM game, Town couldn't get enough votes on the last day to lynch scum for this reason- so it really is important.

I think he just means that the wording doesn't feel natural or something along those lines. I don't really think it's a big deal, and if Unorthodox is busy for the rest of the day and can't post, there's not a ton of info we can gather from discussing it without him, anyway.

I admit his post seemed a little scummy today, but I'm not going to make any solid reads this early in the game, and imo arguing about reads right now probably won't produce any helpful information.

Uhhh wat. Honestly, it's BETTER for people to post and let us know when they're going to be done posting for the night. Like, if you know you're not gonna be able to post for a long time because you're going to bed or whatever, better to let us know so people don't start saying "X must be scum because they're so quiet". People do actually have lives outside of this game, and they shouldn't have to be scumread for that.

As I said before, it's dumb to pick a specific day to massclaim. We massclaim whenever the situation requires it. Even asking this just makes it seem like you're trying too hard to appear helpful, which gives me scum vibes.

No, we don't need a leader. This is FM, not ToS. Just use your brain and try to get an idea of alignments from people's posts. We shouldn't all be sheepy following one person the entire game.
