Important thing to note, however : ALWAYS CLAIM DAY ONE IF YOU ARE SURVIVOR. If you claim Survivor at any point after Day One, you will not be believed and will die. But, no survivors in this game, so not applicable.

Ahoy all.

Don't be afraid to speak your mind and point out suspicions or opinions, especially tomorrow onward, when discussion will become our most important asset.

I'm assuming this is the case in FM since Town has more time to come to an agreement on who is scummy rather than lynching the easy Survivor claim for being non-Town.

Well, in ToS it seems that everyone just wants to lynch the survivor claim because there isn't a lot of time - you need to lynch someone. Why not start with the claimed Neutral? Meanwhile, in FM, you analyze everyone's posts. There's time to discuss things. You WILL find someone scummy to lynch - there's rarely a point where No Lynch is going to be a thing. ALSO, claiming Neutral Benign in general can help to clear up a role list that has Random Neutral on it.

Another important thing to note, don't go into this with a ToS mindset of "Okay, I have my results, I have this amount of time to get them offed in a day or we'll lose majority." We have a LOT of time, and in this time conclusions are made at a slower and much more detailed pace. While it's not good to NoLynch, ever, it's never a cut-and-dry day until the very endgame.

Excellent point, Sword.

In ToS, everything operates on a "you must have proof by role claiming" kind of thing. In FM, it's all about what people say, how they say it - you read people, how much they contribute, how their ideas line up. No one has to claim to get a lynch. If you find someone scummy, you can call them out with zero proof. We have a lot of time here. Nothing is rushed.

What about a more aggressive approach of forcing people to hard claim as soon as possible and then lynching those who either don't claim, or with claims that seem off and act scummy?

I have a lot of Ranked games under my belt and I believe that some of my actions might be influenced by them. Fortunately, I already know that there is a lack of a Trial Phase in FM and hammering a vote would lead to a lynch.

No one should hardclaim unless they are about to be lynched. As for anyone wanting a mass claim, they are scummy. Do not mass claim. Not unless it's basically endgame and you're trying to find the last scum.

There are a few holes.

Firstly, making everyone hardclaim will fail as soon as someone says "lolno". And unlike in ToS, there can be good reasons to refuse, so it's not "Claim or die". Secondly, you generally want a confirmed townie to oversee the process, because everyone knows they are town and can be trusted to sift through the information. However, in this game, no easily confirmable townies(Town Powers) exist, so that flops as well.

Ranked, while more intense and focused than regular ToS, still suffer from the lack-of-time mindset. This is all about stepping back and thinking: "Is what he said REALLY in the town's best interests? Will it help find scum? Does it have info only scum can know/lack?" It is from posts far more than night results that this shall progress.

Just to make sure, here's an example:

A: "B, role?"
B: "It's too early to claim" or silence
A: "Vote B and make him claim."

Would that be considered aggressive Town-play or a scum read on A's part? Obviously, doing the same with multiple players would be mass claiming, but what if it was 1 or 2(maybe 3?) players?

That would literally never happen in FM. Like... ever.

If someone did that I would literally sit here and tell them to shut up and be useful. We don't do that here.

This is situational. What 'B' said would never be an applicable answer in FM, because towns around here don't tend accept one-liners, and prods exist for a reason :P Pressure voting to make someone claim merely because they don't want to is also situational. If it's Day 2 and you lead a wagon on me because you alone suspect me and try to force a claim out of me, that'd be pretty scummy, because, assuming that I'm almost universally townread, you're fishing unnecessarily for information on someone who may benefit the group as a whole from staying silent. That's a closed example, but just an idea. If almost everyone is in agreement, then the individual being wagon'd would probably agree to claim, if they were town.

Not even a day in and I'm already seeing how this is extremely different. I already had an idea so this just reassures me that FM is based on scum reads, emphasis on the "reads."

Just wanted to say 'Howdy' and I'm glad to be getting on on Day one of this game. I've been looking forward to playing for a bit now and hope I don't make too many mistakes.

I forgot to ask, what are the rules regarding double posting? Just as I finish posting I notice that I forgot to include something, I made a typo, or could've said something better. I understand why there's no edit button, but we don't have to wait for someone to post again just to expand on our previous post right? At least, I assume there's no restriction as long as it's not spam.

I just want to say that this is one of the things that intrigues me most about the game. In ToS everything moves so quickly as a newcomer it's sometimes hard to follow who claims what and who claimed things the day before as you're watching the clock tick down and the chat is moving, but here on the forums, there is nothing but time to pick apart things that people say.

I love you?

No, I ran out of milk earlier. I had to eat my Oreos dry. You know how this works. Someone has to pay.

If I may, Oreos taste better dry. Probably because I don't like milk.

Is it because you think it tastes like mucus? A decent amount of people of that I know that don't like milk say that.

Eating Oreos with milk is good unless you try dipping it and the cookie breaks, sinking to the bottom of the cup/glass.

Mucus? I wouldn't have a clue what that tastes like. I just don't like the taste?

All the more reason why I don't eat them with milk.

I'm pretty sure some people are grossed out by the consistency of it. Still, milk is a good way to balance snacks that are overly sweet.

Skim milk bruh

Or you can boil it and just spoon the fat off the top. Hot milk is a great desert topper, because it grows sweet.
