it's a bad form of an attempt to project yourself as town
it distances you from speculation that you're wolf because you show conviction that you think you're not one
however the statement would've been better off with you wishing for a killing ability in general rather than to be specifically mafia

as a result it ends up looking like a facade, a statement blurted out for the sake of being verbalized
with an intent to look like town

What people do that I hate and is wrong is people tend to Lynch the Not Strong players which is the wrong thing to do.
It’s best to get rid of the strong players as the game is easier to solve late game when dealing with not so strong players.
