Preferred Pronoun Setting

Postby ShylokVakarian » Sat Jul 09, 2016 12:44 am

I think there should be a setting in Customization that changes the pronoun used for the player between 4 options: He, She, They, and Skin (For whatever the skin uses).

Sure, and add Xe, Xir, and Hir while we're at it, too. That's what the They is for.

They doesn't really cut it for me though tbh, but that is just my personal taste. It is a bit bland and doesn't always work out is all

To each their own.

Because some people use neutral pronouns.

I do think being able to choose from he/she/they instead of having to rely on a skin is a pretty simple and reasonable option. I might be more inclined to use one of the male skins if it wouldn't make the game refer to me as "he."

I'm OK with this as long as the pronoun "Xysmn" is added. I will be deeply offended if it is not.

Protip: It's a joke. Don't get your panties in a twist.

It would be unreasonable for every possible pronoun that people can imagine to be added, but I don't see what's wrong with he, she, and they.

I'd be a little irritated if they added it in to be honest. After over a year of the game being filled with typos and oversights, adding in accommodation for people making things up would probably suck up BMG's development motivation for the next six months.

You play a character: the skins fit the roles.

One word: Uriel. Uriel has gender-neutral looks, so why the H should I be stuck with being called a she? And who ever said the Reaper was a dude? Maybe they're a lady.

Also, some people want to play as traps. Doing this would have the added bonus of getting to quote Admiral Ackbar.

Unless you study the Bible, you wouldn't know that. To me, it looks like any generic angel in assassin robes.

You don't have to read or study the Bible when in the Patch Notes and Announcements, it's been clearly stated.

Don't have to use the Bible to inform yourself of things. :ugeek:

Regardless, some skins would be very trap-worthy, and there's two skins I know of that are so gender-neutral that you could apply either of them just fine. Not to mention that when announcing how a player died, they use gender-specific pronouns, but when saying there was a note on their corpse, they use the gender-neutral. Should we perhaps stop making the distinction altogether and just use they?
