add a system to the chat log similar to the trial system where you can immediately skip to a day/night, search for key terms, search for messages from a specific person, etc.

just makes it easier to read wills and stuff while someone is on the stand, therefore less mislynching.

When deciding to inno or guilty, or whether to execute or spare, there isn't always enough time to dig through the logs and find that one piece of information you're looking for. But that small detail in a living player's last will, or that claim you forgot about, can sometimes be the deciding factor.
