This will delete your forum, game and ptr account associated with the registered email. Note that due to GDPR deletions are final and cannot be undone.

If you wish to change your password please use the following link:

This will update your forum, game and ptr passwords.

We will be working on incorporating these links into the game.

They get deleted along with the account.

Not to be a party pooper, but... You might want to update the page to require a little more than just a username, since I have now received 48 e-mails WITHIN 2 MINUTES (between 11:14a.m. GMT and 11:16a.m. GMT) about wanting to delete my account.

At 10:16 GMT I recieved 58 e-mails about my account being deleted. That was over the course of 2 minutes. I think I'm the first account that got attacked but I don't know that for sure.

This is correct. The GPDR covers every personal data, to which posts belong to. When an account is deleted the deletion will cascade over and remove all posts the user has made.

To anyone getting spammed or worried about getting spammed: the simplest way I could think of to never have to see these emails is to create an inbox rule that automatically deletes any messages with the subject "Town of Salem Account Deletion".
I just got 34 of them, myself, and while it's an annoyance and should be fixed, this is probably the best temporary solution.

I'd recommend either:
1. having to enter username AND email to send a request
or
2. having to be logged in to the account to send a request

I'd say 1 for password resets, 2 for account deletion, but that's my opinion.

ninja edit: I'd also have the links time out after some number of hours if they don't already, just in case, because it doesn't specify if it does or not in the email.

As far as I'm aware, most of these deletions that occurred were not by request, but the complete opposite.

The account deletion, regardless of being purged or requested, is cascading. The data is wiped from the database. I could tell you something about the concept of relational databases and preventing inconsistencies, if you like, Schultz.

Doesnt stop the fact that im annoyed that I got fucking 35 emails asking to delete my account.


Add a time limit from each request or require a log in. Or really anything at all so someone cant spam request it for other people. I.E. me

I agree that the accoutn deletion page needs some updates, but I am unable to do it.
@Gent: Why can't you change it? You should be able to in your account settings on the forum.

Taking the webpages down until we also add a field for an email. We were hoping to make it easier for users who had forgotten their email to use the webforms but it seems someone is already taking advantage of that so we will have to add it.

I see lots of questions about GDPR deletions in the thread. Yes GDPR deletions are irreversible. We are required by GDPR law to purge all of the data from a user, this means we can't keep any backup data of an account to restore it or else we would be breaking that law. Thus all of those deletions are permanent.

As for anyone else who may have had their account deleted, I'm guessing its the FM group mostly, we are running a DB purge of very old accounts. Accounts that are free + 2 years inactive + low games played.

So how come a user's account met one of those requirements (5 game minimum), but still got deleted?

This isn't an alt, by the way, this was the main account of a user who's been here since 2014 and has clocked in thousands of posts here.
