Dev Update 11//7/2018

I want to experiment with doing some developer updates. These first few will be a bit informal, unscheduled and mostly just about what I'm working on but if the community finds it useful and positive then maybe we can do scheduled developer updates with the whole team. The following is my progress so far this week

Suspension improvements:
We had a problem in the past where a user may not have realized they were suspended if they didn't log in for a few days. With my change suspensions will now only start at the beginning of a users next login. This only works with our in-game mod commands until TurdPile hooks trials into the new system but this is a good first pass and the server implementation is fully ready for trial integration.

First pass on server side referral codes:
As we said in the update post about going P2P, we are working on a system for premium accounts to generate referral codes that let their friends play a few games for free. I've setup the referral code database table, server messages for generating referral codes and the server messages for sending/validating referral codes. I'd say I have about half of the system done and hope to start working with Brett or Blake to synchronize client side integration and finalize the client design sometime soon. We plan to have Referral codes tie into the RAF system. The expected requirements to unlock Referral codes are Premium + X number of games played. As users play more games they may unlock more Referral codes. Referral codes will forever be linked to the main account so if the system is abused to allow botters in to the game the main account linked to them will be banned also.

New Vampire game mode and Vampire buffs
We know the community is craving some fresh content so I have been working on some new game mode ideas. Today I started developing a new Vampire vs Town themed game mode that will replace Vigilantics in the Chaos mode. Along with the new game mode we are introducing some Vampire buffs that will allow the Vampire faction to kill instead of convert whenever they are at maximum capacity (4 Vampires). For players who enjoy the fun and deception of conversion mechanics it should hopefully be an exciting new game mode to replace Vigilantics.

I'm also brain storming a new Coven rotating game mode but haven't started coding anything for that yet.

ok, idea for rotating coven gamemode

the goal of the town is to find a living pile of feces and remove him from power before the mighty benefactors of the town strike everyone dead

it's like VIP but the VIP is evil and town must find him and lynch him at ALL COSTS....

That has been the blanket answer to anything for over a year

We've worked on a lot of things besides Unity you just don't see all of it. Of course we have to do double the client work to make changes to both Unity (mobile) and Flash/Steam so the sooner we can get Unity finished and move to one client code base the better.

Another things to mention is that Josh is the server guy, so a lot of his work may not necessarily need client changes. We obviously haven't been doing nothing but Unity changes though as you have seen anytime we release a patch that changes just about anything on the client.

I think that you definitely should replace Vigilantics!

Also, a good thing for me I think is to add a new rotating game mode as not rotating yet so that people can get a feel for it. If the feedback is positive, add it to the rotating list! If they think that they don't deserve to be a rotating game mode, separate it!

Curious to see how this will work. Would botters not be able find a way past this? Also would the referees have to pay at all? If so when?

Happy for Vampire game mode, I've been supporting the idea for a while. My friend's probably gonna miss Vigilantics though, him and the other two guys that like it.

From my limited understanding, I do believe that the user invited using the referral code may play a few games before they are no longer able to play and must upgrade their account via a purchase like all new TOS players.
I have mostly rescinded my role as Admin.

All previous contact should instead be redirected to Flavorable.

If your inquiry doesn't directly have to do with Trial 2.0 or TrialBot, then please refrain from messaging.

If the codes are connected to referrals, wouldn't someone be able to use their own codes to get access to any rewards?

The transparency is great + its good to know the stuff you guys are working on so it doesnt feel like nothing is happening behind the scenes, so more of these would be amazing.

Also the whole vampire vs town game mode seems so cool especially with new buffs/mechanics, vigilantics is essentially useless at this point since witch has the barrier so replacing it with that is a good move. Cant wait! hype af

The new account has to purchase something, which usually means premium, in order for the referral to count, along with a certain amount of games.

This is basically nothing. Coding some minor balance changes wouldn’t even take a day and still absolutely nothing
RNG is never good for any strategy based game. Please learn the definition of what that means, especially if you're one of the people constantly defending it.

This was an update on what I have been working on this week (3 days). Obviously the week before that was a lot of work to move P2P and before that were Captchas , email verification and other anti-botting measures. Please stop trolling. Also you need to remove the tag in your signature targeting one of our previous employees. As part of cleaning up forum toxicity we have zero tolerance towards personal attacks against BMG employees, both present and past. For years now forum toxicity has been so bad that we have had to tell most of our employees to avoid the forums, were changing that and going to be much more active with the community, but as part of that there will be no tolerance for personal attacks against our staff.

The referred accounts have a limited number of games they get to play as a free user. The amount is still being decided.

They will be once per account. The goal is to let a new user try out ToS, not to let some people play free forever.

I'd Rather have one thing be worked on fully to push out faster, rather than having so many things being worked on at once that it will take a long time to finish. Like please, finish the Unity port and have the unity port be compatible to the HUD we are using today for those who prefer that old school look. (the compatibility is my wish when the port is made)

EDIT: Also vigilantics with Witch's really old buff where they have 1 basic defense really destroys that game mode. Plus Games relying on pure luck is horrible. I fully agree vigilantics being removed.
