I've seen that there are new players coming and having bought premium. Sure the amount of new players/playing accounts would increase with a f2p model, but the change was neccessary for multiple reasons.

I'd rather less new players and no bots over players continually leaving because of bots.

If you have twelve dollars, you can pay for this game. Buy a Visa gift card with six dollars on it.

It’s not like they take any info, the game just isn’t free. (I will admit that to buy a Visa gift card costs a little money, but I’m sure there are cheaper alternatives)

Is is possible Town of Salem would move back to Free To Play in future, after this bot incident subsides?

I do not think there are any plans to move back to f2p in the future.

As long as you had at least 1 game played you are fine. Nothing will change for you other than higher quality games :)

the more people join the more money you make

There are new players coming as far as I've seen, so your argument is invalid. Havign the game be p2p does help with improving the community, as people will think twice (or more) before breaking rules.
Lukirous wrote:I was really excited when I heard about this game from a friend such a shame I can't play how annoying

Well, you cannot play it for free, thats correct, yet the move to p2p was reasonable. The amount of money isn't that high to be unreachable for newer players to pay. Think about it, it can be worth it.
FortenGrey wrote:Let's be honest. You just did this, because of Moonman. :D

If you read the first post, then you'd know why the move happened. The caused chaos didn't come from nowhere.

There's plenty more solutions to this that can solve the bot issue. If this isn't just an excuse to become a paid game and you were honestly forced into this, I'm happy for anyone @ BMG to get in touch with me and brainstorm some solutions the bots won't be able to get past. You can contact me via the email on my account (preferably) or otherwise I'll check DMs here occasionally.

I've built bot protection systems like this before and based on your thread, there's a ton of stuff you either haven't tried or haven't thought of.

from what they've said, they don't have the resources for a lot of the solutions to the bot issue. They said that they consulted with security companies to try and find solutions and nothing they came up with that was doable for them worked.

Then maybe the friend that suggested the game to you should have mentioned it became pay to play.
Not to mention said friend can give you a referral code, you can play 5 games and if you like it, you can still buy the game.

I haven't posted on these forums in ages, I honestly feel bad for kind of just disappearing as I would have liked to have become closer to the people I've met here.

But I do still play the game occasionally and check on the news surrounding it. And I wanted to say that I'm honestly really glad for this change. I'm pretty sure I've said it a year or two ago but I was hoping the game would become paid-only, this will discourage people who dedicate themselves to gamethrowing/trolling, as I doubt they'd want to continuously pay $5 to do that. It used to bug me a lot when I only played Ranked. I don't know why people are upset, most people will still keep their accounts even if they haven't made any purchases, and being as it's only going to be a $5 game, it's not that big of a deal to pay for it, just like most games.

Well sir, I am from a third world country.. my country doesn't sell gift cards. I am too young to own my own credit card of any sort. It's physically impossible for me to get the game and my parents doesn't like using their cards on non trusted websites.

The premium upgrade doesn't even make sense anymore now. 'Premium' means being able to play the game lol screw you BMG

It does make some sense, as there is also the trial access.
This is a working way to keep the trolls and bots out, though and this is what counts.

You may doubt me as much as you wish, but there have been some newcomers or rather new created accounts after the p2p change with a premium account.
