This will include my account, but we do need to make sacrifices here.

I don't think limiting the playerbase to paid users is worse than letting bots and rulebreakers run rampant on alts, tbh.

It is already live.

I got into my first match with my friend who was teaching me how to play and right as the game starts the 10 minute notice comes up saying the servers will be down. I think nothing off it and continue to learn the game until there are 4 people left. Then the sessions freezes and says the servers are down. Now I get on the game and find out I have to buy it. Talk about Fing bad timing. So what does this mean for me?

Our thoughts exactly.

shapesifter13 wrote:You are most likely already grandfathered in to the new system. All existing accounts with at least 1 game played or who has ever made a real money purchase (Steam, Web premium, Mobile premium, Coven, promotions, etc) are already grandfathered in (aka you still get to play for free). We didn’t grandfather in all accounts to prevent bringing a bunch of botter alt accounts into the new system.
A grandfathered account does not mean you now have a premium account however. If you hadn’t already purchased premium you still will not get the double merit points after the change, but you will be able to continue playing ToS for free.

I started this game recently, having seen friends from a Discord Mafia server playing it. It looks like I joined just in time to avoid the pay-to-play change. One of my housemates, upon hearing about it, thought that he'd like to try it, due to the short game time. He hasn't signed up yet, and now he'd have to pay to join. Due to the change, I doubt he will join (and I would encourage him not to), and we'll probably both (along with any other housemates that might have joined in) will find a new game to play if this change isn't reversed.

I'm sorry to hear that but if you don't feel like Town of Salem is worth 5 dollars to you or your friend then there are always other free-to-play games out there. I wish you and your friend goodluck.
