I understand the necessity of this step, but share the concerns about the price being a bit steep. If the paywall only exists to prevent the bots from entering, because credit card fraud would be too bothersome to pull off, why not make the initial price lower? A 5$ purchase for a text based game, that you have no idea whether you will like or not, is amount worth considering for the majority of target demographic. Very risky move for already thinning playerbase as it is. Maybe the blow can be softened by making bot throttle pass a bit cheaper, 2$ max, and giving the ability to pay the rest if the players feel the actual need of getting the rest of the premium jingle jangle. But that's just my thoughts.
