Unselecting a Target (Bad game mechanics)

I was vampire and the last other remaining player was a vampire hunter. I clicked his name to bite him. Suddenly, presumably due to internet issues, the vampire hunter was disconnected from the game. There was, however, no button to not bite him once he had gone. I was forced to bite him and die, ending the game in a draw. I don't believe this is a "bug" but it is, in my opinion, an oversight in the games mechanics. Normally one would be able to change targets by selecting another player if the first target disconnects, but with that option unavailable, I was forced to die.
