Episode Rules
Spoiler:
  • Episodes will be ran every 3 months after the last Episode ended.
  • Episodes will reward flairs to the winners
  • If the Moderator in charge does not believe you played to the best of your ability, you will not get a flair.
  • All players with 3+ completed games, without replacing out, may join an Episode.
  • A player may not join an Episode if they have not completed a game since the last one.
  • A player may not join an Episode if they won the previous one.
  • A player may not join an Episode if they have been kicked out of a game or warned in a month.
  • A player may not join an Episode if they have received a temporary blacklist in the past six months.
  • We reserve the right to remove this privilege, or deny it from you, if we feel you cannot handle it.
  • All NFM games you play will only count as 1 game total for Episode qualifications.
    Example: You've played in 2 NFM games. That still only counts as 1 game played.

Zinthos is an alt to test things in the host group.

As far as games, we will be trying to go for 1 of each type going at a time, with standard having 2 (As we have 2 mods).
NFM will be an as needed basis. Probably 2-3 going at once.

If you are wanting to host a NFM, you will NOT need to send a role list to Met/Gent.
NFM will have a role list already made up.
You will just need to send Mela a PM if you fit the requirements

Please DO NOT send her a PM if you have not hosted at least 1 game supervised by a moderator on this forum.
UFM does not count.

This rule will be added into NFM effective Immediately.

A Moderator may remove you from the NFM queue if they feel that you are not a good fit for NFM as a non-newbie.
Should you not see your name on the queue any longer, you may PM the moderator and ask why you were removed.
Disrespect rule still applies here.

One for when we have an influx of newbies, and one standard when we have a steady stream.

Some people have stated that 13 players don't prepare them for the 20 player games. What if we met in the middle with 15p? We did 15 at the start of this forum, and I felt fine going into a 20 player game at that point.

NFM Role List

Suggest NFM role lists here.

For now, we'll be using the Episode one. But, I feel a variety might be good.

Can be 13-21 player.

Right now we have an influx of players, but it might not be that way after summer is over.
So, I'd like to see what you guys think about what kind of role list would be best for NFM.

If you like the Episode role list for NFM, just say that.

So, a change in NFM is slowly happening. We are going to test out the 20 player system.

Game Moderator Message: After talking with the FM Mods, here are the changes coming to NFM, starting with NFM18.

Please read through it all. Thank you!

1. Role list will be slightly changed (Not a huge change, just a change to the Mafia list)
Role list change
Spoiler: Blackmailer OR Consort OR Agent
Consigliere OR Mafioso OR Framer
Consigliere OR Mafioso OR Disguiser

Agent is new Agent.

With no Janitor, AKA the most confirmable scum role, the scumlist is for the most part completely hidden. Consort is still there, but, it also has Escort to hide back on, or can even do the kills. It isn't a necessity like Janitor to use every night in this setup.

The first line is the role Mafia focus on essentially. Communication, shutting down PRs, and mass information. Consigliere and Mafioso both act as supporting roles and mesh well in any team but they aren't central roles. Disguiser and Framer are also supportive but are more niche than the other two.


Agent role card
Agent

You are an Agent.

Your alignment is Mafia Support.

You were a brilliant Spy in your early days, one of the best in the country. However, on one mission you were captured - by the Godfather.
To your great surprise, he wanted to help you retire after all your years of service. The deal was simple. Use your talents to collect sensitive information from the townsfolk and he will rule to grant you whatever you want in this silly little town.

You can choose one player to spy on during the day. You will be informed if this player visits others at night.
Each night you also have the ability to plant a bug on a person. The bug will allow you to see who they visit that night, or if they do at all.
As well the bug will inform you what feedback they receive at the end of the night.
You can communicate with your allies each night, for as long as they are alive.

Your allies are [x] the [role], [x] the [role], and [x] the [role]

You win with the Mafia
You win with Survivors
You win with Witches
You must kill the Town
You must kill Arsonists
You must kill Serial Killers
You must kill Stalkers
You must kill Bombers
You may spare anyone else

2. IC's will be removed officially.
Waiting list change
Spoiler: There will be two waiting lists. One for newcomers, and one for non-newbies (Have played 3+ games).
The first 9 slots will always be newbies.
The last 4 slots will be designated for non-newbies.
You do not have to be "experienced" or feel that you are "experienced."
You just have to have 3 games under your belt to be a non-newbie.
If there are not enough non-newbies on the waiting list to fill the 4 slots, then newbies will get to auto-fill those slots.

We feel this will be an overall better NFM experience. All players can just play the game, and not have to worry about "teaching" or "reviews." Plus adding a mixture of players who have already played the game moves the game along more smoothly, while also getting people prepared for advanced games.

This may not be the ultimate solution for NFM. But, it's something we want to try out.

I will be implementing this change to the NFM OP in a few.

I fully agree with the IC situation here, Gob. I've been disappointed in a lot of the IC's that have joined games.

So, I wouldn't be opposed to removing them completely.

As far as more standard games, I feel we have integrated more standard games. As Kirize mentioned those above.
The problem is, if we do majority standard games, people will say "There's not enough fun games."
There's no pleasing everyone here.

What would people say would be a good balance between Specials and Standard games?

Game Moderator Message: As of now, if I see anymore people making alts to try to get into NFM, I will be giving you a warning. Further action will be taken if it continues.

NFM is suppose to help the newer players. It isn't fair to them if you're taking up a spot that one of them could have.
Join with your main as a non-newbie. But don't create alts.

The best suggestion I have is to just sign up for an NFM game, it's basically a giant tutorial where you can play the game while asking (usually) experienced players for help at the same time so you don't get thrown straight into the deep.

You should have been here a year ago, obi went crazy and there was like 10 different stickies in fm discussions.

I've been thinking about doing a video tutorial on it for a while. Maybe I'll get on that soon. Just to show the basics of how it works, nothing extensive.

Although, it is true, NFM will teach you everything and you can ask questions there. Some people may need more than that at first.

In all honestly I dont mind the occasional closed game, but it should be something only now and then. It seems that almost every game is closed and the only games with no flavour and just vanilla roles are official episodes or NFM games.


Again, not a fully closed game. But, your choice on whether to play in it. It will be run that way regardless.

Game Moderator Message: Rule Update for NFM

  • Any new player that dies on Night 1, will be put on the top of waiting list automatically for the next game.

This is so there isn't that meta of "We have to kill an experienced player N1." That is not how we normally play FM, and I don't think newbies should have to worry about that.

I feel NFM is a great introduction. It's not meant to be too complicated for the players.

I don't feel like we've gained a ton of players, but we have gained a few, which is better than nothing.

ASG2 when I replaced in. I was a prime suspect for SK. Rock and I were both town, yet both pegging each other for SK, when it was Animate who was the SK. It got a bit frustrating. Luckily I got killed and so it all cleared up.

I didn't come up with them. Popcorn was Met's suggestion - I think it was played on Mafia Scum at one point. Rota Fortunae was Cows idea (It's in the FM discussion section, I asked him if I could run it) and Star Wars was a combination of Cow/Me. But Cow had the initial idea of it.

So basically, I steal.

You'd need to play in 2 regular games (SFM/CFM/Numbered Game) to qualify for an Episode.

I will add this to the rules under Episodes.
