Bad idea. If you are town just don't lie about your role.

Largely leads to disasters. At best, you have both town and mafia leaving you alone, at worst you have vigilantes/jailors?? shooting/exeing you. More frequently I see Mayors revealing earlier than they wanted to and vigis shooting, from my experience.

Though to avoid most of these, just do what gaby suggested and not lie about your role... or at least claim a TS equivalent.
